“The idea is that studying at the University not only opens up better economic and social opportunities, not only promises a career but offers the opportunity for the better development of human potential, for the appropriate fulfilment of one’s own destiny.“ – Max Horkheimer

An autonomous tutorial is a tutorial by students for students, away from the prescribed teaching activities. Scientific topics from all subject areas can be covered. Autonomous tutorials offer the possibility to pursue scientific inclinations in an informal way and to deepen them together. And this without the guidance of lecturers and away from Bologna constraints. For this purpose, we would like to create a space in which interested students can come together who would otherwise not have come together in the anonymous everyday life of study.
An autonomous tutorial lives from the participation and collaboration of all participants. The “tutors” are not lecturers. After all, it should be about working together on a scientific topic and enriching each other.
The Autonomous Tutorials would like to continue to open up spaces to promote a different way of studying in addition to the condensed curriculum. For this purpose, we offer you a diversified offer again this semester. All courses are open to students of all faculties. The tutorials are not bound to courses at the university.
The project is supported by your General Student Committee (AStA). The design of the tutorials, however, is the responsibility of the students who offer one and the students who participate in it. The AStA acts as a coordinator and stays out of all content-related issues. The tutorials are selected by a selection committee appointed by the AStA in an anonymous application procedure.
Maybe you plan to lead an autonomous tutorial yourself in the coming semester? On our application page, you will find all the necessary information.
